Rockledge, built in 1912, was designed to provide a summer retreat in the cool shadow of Pikes Peak for a wealthy Western entrepreneur. Constructed of Manitou greenstone in the American Arts and Crafts style, Rockledge caught the eye of a prominent Texas oilman in 1922, who liked the stonework so much, he bought Rockledge as well as the quarry from which the stone had come and proceeded to terrace and fence the estate creating a true Rocky Mountain showpiece.

Today, Rockledge provides a private and peaceful destination for the discriminating traveler, minutes from downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado College, U.S. Air Force Academy, Olympic Training Center and is close to the heart of the many attractions of Manitou Springs, including Garden of the Gods, ancient mineral springs, Pikes Peak Cog Railway and a number of interesting shops and excellent restaurants in this National Historic District.

Overnight accommodations are in luxury suites, each with its own distinctive character and include kingsize feather beds and spacious sitting rooms, some with fireplace and whirlpool bath. Explore the stone terraces and walk the gardens of the three and one half acre estate; or just relax in front of the copperwork fireplace or on the stone patio with a view of Pikes Peak.

Breakfast is a culinary event at Rockledge. Fresh fruits and juices, the finest coffees and teas and specialties from our kitchen such as crisp and light Belgian waffles or imaginative omelets and other creations are always accompanied by fresh baked breads and pastries.

Colorado wines or cocktails are served each afternoon with appetizers with a regional emphasis and freshly baked cookies and chocolates are always at hand.

Rockledge welcomes small groups for wedding ceremonies, family gatherings, business meetings or retreats when a beautiful, tranquil and very private setting is sought.
