Return to Where the Eagle II Has Landed!

Manchester, California
March 22, 2000

We awoke today to another beautiful California morning and set off along Rt. 12 to Rt. 101 and then Rt. 128 on our way back to the coast. We had originally intended to cut across from Rt. 128 to just below Point Arena....however, Jan Harris, the kind soul who owns Adventure Rents (we'll be meeting Jan tomorrow!), gave us a clue about the road we were planning to take.....the last 22 miles were dirt! She told us she could just picture the poor Eagle lost in the wilderness on a dirt road and suggested the alternate route we DID take!

We left the wine country and entered the Redwoods and then came to the coast.....just as the fog was rolling in off the ocean. Be sure to check out the "Photos of the Day" at our Spring/Summer Tour.

In our travels today, as we stopped to take photos along Rt. 1 of the rocky coast, we were flagged down by a woman driving in the opposite direction. As she approached The Eagle, she said, "Are you Mike & Cindy?". This is happening more and more, but never ceases to take me by surprise! This time it was Elaine Bryant, of Elk Cove Inn, where we will be staying on Friday!

We stopped for the night at Manchester KOA, a large park with level, grassy sites and it's modem friendly!
